Welcome to the Christian Coaching Blog for Parents

4 years ago, after my son was born, I knew that God was calling me to leave the practice of psychiatry. "How could this be?" I asked God over and over again. After all, I had used so much of my life's resources- my time, my energy and my money- to become a physician that it seemed unfathomable that I should leave the field in which I had done so well. So I fought with God. I talked back. I disobeyed. I did not listen and could not see that I could leave behind my hard-won identity as a doctor.

Despite all this, God's faithfulness took me in the direction of coaching many times in those early years of career indecision. I had moments of prayerful clarity in which I knew that I was being called to help parents in a way other than through the practice of psychiatry. It was in one of these moments that I discovered the calling of coaching. I received coach training at the Graduate School of Coaching and even set up a website.

Lack of faith led me to quickly change my mind and I decided that it was "unrealistic" to think that I could switch from psychiatry to coaching. I had spent so many years immersed in the world of illness that it seemed impossible for me to imagine myself doing anything different.

But God had other plans for me. In fact, I always maintained a side job of coaching despite my continued involvement in psychiatry. People who were not patients (friends, co-workers, acquaintances) would approach me with their parenting issues and we would work together to come up with solutions. If you were to ask me at that time was involved in coaching, I would have said "no". I thought that I was just spending some time on the phone with parents who needed advice and helping them come up with solutions to their parenting dilemmas. A few times I even helped some busy moms by e-mail.

Years of learning to listen to God, discern His will for my life and study His Word have paid off. I am officially embracing my role as a parenting coach with love, joy and peace.

Thank you Lord for all that you have done for me. Thank you for your provisions and protection. Thank you for making a way out of no way. Thank you for your faithfulness and love even when I strayed from you. You are Almighty God and your mercy reigns forever!
Amen.
